Dear Luna,

This morning, before you and I headed out to look for a speakeasy resto in Miraflores, Lima (recommended by the owner of B&B Tradiciones where we're staying for more than a week) I dolled you up with: A hippie beaded hairband from U.S., a singlet from Mexico, harem pants from Peru (but made in India), and itsy bitsy trekking sandals from the Philippines.


These trekking sandals I bought from the Philippines now fit you!

I reckon you feel uber cutesy today for you volunteered to walk a couple of blocks, which took us about half an hour to cover! But that's okay sweetie, you can take all the time you need.

PS. Bubba wasn't with us because he attended some convention in Colorado.

Isla Cantuta, Lake Titicaca, Peru

Dear Luna,

We are now in a city named Puno, about 3,830 meters above sea level, near the Peru-Bolivia border. That means we're very, very high up in a mountainous region, baby doll. Where the weather is chilly, and the air is thin.

Earlier we went to Lake Titicaca, the main reason why we're visiting here. We took a boat from the lake's shore to one of the artificial islands floating in the water. Our tour group was assigned to Isla Cantuta, led by a woman named Maria.

You kinda liked chewing on reed.
That boat we rode on to get to the islands.  

You made the Uros (that's what the people who live here are called) smile the moment you stepped on the island!

Oh how they loved you!

And how you loved this tot! 

The guide ushered the whole group to sit in a semi-circle. Stalks of reed were passed around for us to snack on. You kinda liked chewing it! Reed is actually the material used in building the floating islands. Maria and the guide showed us how an island is constructed. And while we all listened to that, you played with the kids who live on the island.

You just crawled in there like you're part of the family.
You and mummy were the last off the island.  

All of us had a fun time! And although it was cloudy the whole morning, it did not rain until we got back to our hostel.
